Dance Teacher / 3rd Year OT student
Hi, my name is Megan Su
I am currently in my 3rd year of studying Occupational Therapy at the university of Southern Cross.
I moved from the country town of Tamworth to attend university. I was a competitive gymnast for 16 years and coached for another 4 years. I competed in many competitions which included Nationals at the Australian Institute of Sports, State and Country on many occasions.
My favourite memory was being ranked top 10 in Australia on the apparatus vault.I love gymnastics, the skills and life long friendships it offers. I studied dance in high school and enjoy choreographing dances for our yearly dance festivals.
I danced in many concerts in Tamworth including Capers, School Talents Night and Dance Festival. I am also currently a mother to a beautiful cat in which I spend most of my time sitting on the couch with her watching movies.
Belinda has been dancing since the age of five and started teaching her own classes at fifteen. After working for numerous dance studios around Brisbane she bought her own studio in 2000 and ran it successfully for twelve years, putting students through examinations and eisteddfods with fantastic results.
Belinda has been trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet / Contemporary and Hip Hop. She has studied RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and CSTD (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance) then went on to train with APDA (Asia Pacific Dance Association). She has been an examiner with APDA since 2014.
Since having a child with special needs she has wanted to share her love of dance with children who don’t fit into regular dance studios due to sensory needs.
Belinda completed the Rhythm Works Integrative Dance Certificate in 2017 which is a certification specifically designed to teach dance to children with special needs.
Belinda absolutely loves working at Therapy and Dance and feels she finally has a chance to make a difference in the lives of students through movement and music.
It’s a very rewarding job.
Dance Teacher / 4th year OT student
Hi, my name is Lara! I found my passion for dancing when I was just four years old in a small dance school in my hometown Cairns. From there I was accepted in to the Queensland Dance School of Arts in Brisbane where I studied for one year alongside completing my year 12 studies.
In 2010 I was accepted to train at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts for three years, graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts in Dance.
In 2013 I moved to Germany to pursue a career in contemporary dance. In a small town called Görlitz I was appointed a contract with the Gerhart Hauptman Theatre as a dancer. I lived and danced in Görlitz for almost two years before returning home to Australia.
I am now in my fourth year studying Occupational Therapy on the Gold Coast and am very pleased to be teaching at Therapy and Dance for 2018.
